Glock 34 Gen 3 - Broken out from Jail + 1st Year with Guns!

Okay... It's been about a year since I first gotten into firearms, and to celebrate, I got myself a Glock 34 Gen 3. Just broken it out from jail yesterday:

That said, couldn't wait to make it go through its paces, and immediately headed out to the range:

Woot...! It was definitely an exciting year - from which I definitely LEARNED A LOT, both from my own experience and from the helpful members of CalGuns. When I first started, it was with a Glock 22...! Yeah, I know - I got carried away with "if Law Enforcement was going with it, it must be good..." Hahahaha!

Here were my groups on that fateful (??) day:

Looking forward to my second year in shooting.

    Cheers,

    Right on. Good choice.

Are you going to start shooting competitions?

Yes, planning to shoot IDPA and/or USPSA about once-a-month...

Though have had IDPA "practice" matches before, and already officially competed in GSSF (November 2016 and March 2017).

Nice shooting on the vid....MUCH better than those first targets, LOL!

How did you set up the video? Like a GoPro and a cell phone camera?

Also, nice job on the shooting lane clip. How did you set up?

Yes, I bought a baseball cap with a GoPro mount - I used that for the POV shot. Then I bought one of those small pocket camera stands, and mounted a regular compact digital camera and just zoomed in to the target.

I combined them, "Picture-in-Picture" as they would say, in a movie editor.

            Cheers!

Very nice shooting. As someone who is considering a long slide Glock I must say you are helping my decision. Also, 1 year of experience got you into some awesome groups. Much better than I was after a year of shooting handguns. Can't wait to see how you progress.

Congrats! love my Glock 34 (and so does most people that shoot mine) I put on hi viz sights (old eyeballs) and a Zev magwell flair. It really helped with my control.

A G34 is what I shoot in USPSA. It won't let you down!

G34 is a great gun. The only polymer gun I should have held on to. Congrats!

When I got my G22, I used HiViz; but then, found the dot TOO big for accuracy farther out than 7-yds that I switched to Taran Butler competition sights. It was good...

Wanted to get another one for the G34; but then, since I did quite decent in the recent GSSF match at Burro with the big dot Trijicons in my G19, might as well stay with the stock Glock polymer night sights in my G34 for now.

Thanks!!! Hoping to try it out soon, even in a practice match.

The G34 was the first handgun I ever shot! Great gun. For some reason I like the G17 more, even though the difference between the two is so minimal. Congratulations on your newly acquired firearm. You made a good choice.

You were smart enough to buy to buy the finest handgun that money can possibly acquire. I hope you have many happy range trips with it.

Nice choice. Use some gun oil. That gun looks very dry.
