    Engraving a 1911

Started a new project today. We'll see how it turns out. This is a Caspian Stainless steel slide. I'll be at the Lodi gun show this weekend. Stop by my table and check out some of my work.

The side looks great, don't like the look on top though, maybe something simple/plain as contrast? Like a single colt logo with a minor embellishment towards the rear sight.

How long will it take to to engrave each side?
Any pics of finished work to admire?

Yeah I agree, for me less is more. But customer gets what the customer wants. Here's a pic of one I just finished.

Wow... as someone who really wants to learn engraving, I am completely amazed by someone who does this kind of thing.

How long have you been engraving? Do you have any tips for a noobie? Air graver? Vise? Books?

Would appreciate any advice. And the slide is looking great. Can't wait to see it with more details filled in.

Is this actual hand engraving or CAD?

I hear you. But I am definitely a traditionalist and love working with my hands.

Maybe you live that life. I just lost all interest in this post.

I agree, but the times are changing. I use the same machine Jesse James F.U. uses. Except he has a full time graphic designer on his payroll. I am a one man show still trying to figure out how to use adobe illustrator, doing this a couple hours a day.

No CAD in the world can even get close to a Francolini.

Nice! I'm working with a startup that is bringing laser engravers to market. Can I ask what type of equipment you are running? You can pm me if that's your preference.
