A few years ago, I brought a lot of stuff to a cerakoter in the OC who was offering really good prices on his work. So I bit and had stuff done. Unfortunately he wasn't that good and applied the stuff too thick, and even worse apparently did ZERO prepwork. He'd literally coat over oil and carbon.
Almost everything was messed up.
I didn't have the motivation to fix it all and respend all the money.
One of the things he did was coat my HK P30L slide in RAL8000, or German Desert tan. Too thick, too glossy (I did ask for semi gloss but some parts were gloss, others matte)
So, I decided last night, maybe it might look better if I hit it with some 0000 and wet/dry sandpaper. About 30-45 mins later, I got this, and because he left the factory black underneath, got this really cool weathered affect. Now the cerakote that is peeling off inside in the the back of the chamber matches the rest!
Going to attempt to weather the other stuff he did and see what happens. I know many of you are into the BFPU look, and this look is a winner for the right kind of gun. I might just use model spray paint on the rest of the frame now and lightly scuff it up....?
Definately a save on this one. I figure the worst case, I can have it redone by someone who knows what to do.
