    Colt Python info from 1955-1990

Saw this info about Pythons, thought it might be worth passing around. Some
interesting points about cost cutting and hand fitting. I owned a few back
when but never had a post 1985 example. Until recently haven't owned one
in over 30 years. The one I purchased recently is 1966 and it is used but
looks pretty good after 51 years. The action is outstanding.Last year at this time saw one in LGS in great shape for $2500, went back next day it was sold. Most recently saw one (Stainless 6") in LGS for $3300, wasn't interesting to me but it was gone a week later. If you want one and can afford it---- buy it. Just be sure
it's not refinished. If there is a question about refinish, don't buy and don't rely on
a seller, they may NOT know its refinished.

They shoulda made Rick Grimes use a hipoint. See if prices and demand go up on those bad boys.

Yesterday my LGS in AZ had a 6" blued .357 python for like $3500. It will probably sell fast too.

how can one tell if a Python has had a re-blue, especially if done at Colt?

I've seen some Colts with a "white" muzzle and some of the same year with blued muzzle. I wonder if that's something a Colt performed re blue would catch?
I see your swartz is as big as mine, now let's see how well you handle it

It requires careful " hands on " examination--- no pictures. Lettering that
may be washed out. Sharp edges that aren't so sharp, again careful
inspection--- if there is any doubt, you don't purchase. A factory reblue is nice
but does not command the price an original example would bring.

I'm pretty sure Colt or Fords would blue the muzzle. I can't imagine a muzzle in the white.
