Look closer and you'll see that the slide is slightly different. There are few additional changes as well, similar to Gen 4 vs. Gen 3 Glocks. It's just the evolution of the design.

They are hard to find because FNH isn't producing enough of them. Same as some CZ-s. Nothing inherently special about the shortage or different models...

From what i've heard they are all great. Just slight differences in their evolution. Orange county stores usually have at least one brand new one in stock from what i've seen. Good luck

I have the MKII. If I remember correctly it's a slightly wider frame, one-piece slide with front serration and all of the grey bits are now black.
From what I've been seeing they're around. Got mine somewhat recently at Retting in Culver City, thought they had more. Angeles Armory may has them too.
I went with the MKII over the USG because it was in stock. That said, I prefer the slide on the MKII. It's newer and supposedly an improvement...

The IOM and the USG are no longer in production but remain on the roster. The new models are the MKII and there are two on roster- black and FDE (flat dark earth). The MKII is just the current revision. I have the USG model and my brother has a MKII FDE and they are both great.

They are hard to find because FN only makes them in small batches. It seems that everyone had them in stock a couple or three months ago. May be another 8 or 9 months before they become readily available again.

If you are planning to buy one, stock up on ammo now. Palmettostatearmory.com has great prices on the ammo at times, and it will be hard to find or expensive after the new ammo restrictions go into effect.

The ammo used to be problematic when only FNH made it, but these days there are other manufacturers and prices are similar to .40.

Here are some deals at Gun Bot.

As far as I've seen, the only manufacturers of the ammo are FNH and Federal. The best price I see on gunbot.net is 37 cents per round. Palmettostatearmory.com has the federal right now for 30 cents per round shipped if you order at least 500 rounds. Haven't found a better price than Palmetto on this ammo in the last 3 years. The FNH is a few bucks more per box from them, but still the best price I've found, especially when on sale.
