Yeah, it sticks out like a sore thumb, but I don't think that was the OP point. I believe he's saying people in the market place are selling modified CA version Shields, but listing them as the Off Roster version.

      just learned something.

Let us not beating around the bush. Here ya go:

      Make: S&W M&P Shield 9mm

      Model: Shield

      Caliber: 9mm

      Location (city or county): Sacramento

      Price: $650.00

      Will ship (Y/N): No

Other info: Off Roster. LCI is locked in place (down) and I am told that this is one of those models that can still fire with the mag out. Comes with 3 mags and a IWB holster.
Would be willing to trade, plus cash on my end, for a Colt Defender 45 or 9mm or EMP 9mm.

I don't understand why having or not having a loaded chamber indicator is a big deal. Every Luger ever made has a pop up indicator and I've never heard anyone complain about it.

The way it's implemented on the Shield bothers me. It's just an extra piece bolted on, which is one more piece that can cause a malfunction.

I'm fine with a window, or with an extractor being designed to indicate when the chamber is loaded (as my PPQ does).

But when the government requires you to add a feature to a firearm that a consumer may not want, and that may increase the chance of a malfunction, I draw the line.

This is fraud. Clearly states its off roster, then goes into detail that proves it's not.

It's not magic, it's called dishonesty.
