    just learned something.

You can buy off roster Shields in Ca. Well technically your buying a Ca Shield then replacing the LCI and removing the mag disconnect. Then magically you have a off roster Shield you can sell for much more than you paid, by simply stating it's off roster.

Off Roster = S&W Shield LCI (Loaded Chamber Indicator)

On Roster = S&W Shield CLI (Chamber Load Indicator)

      Not off-Roster, it's "customized".

I wouldn't sell a gun with disabled "safety" features.

LCI on off roster vs CA version is different. Off roster version has a peep hole to see the brass. CA version has a raised indicator.

The desirable off roster Shield is the no thumb safety version.

I know what an off roster Shield looks like since I carry one every day. Just making an observation from looking in the marketplace is all.

ah, clever! I'm sure this loophole will close once the shield is really taken
off the roster. It's only a matter of time at the rate California is going.

Watch just bc you posted this thread there is going to be a sudden increase
in the market with "off Roster" shields now... THANKS! lol

Wow, buyer beware. Hopefully people are savvy enough to know the difference and don't get taken for a ride.

Well the giant slit down the middle of the slide sort of gives it away. Filler or no filler, you wont miss it.

I have a converted shield and I love it. It's still cheaper than buying an off roster shield. With the lci delete it leaves a little window to see brass also.

If a thumb safety on a striker pistol that already has a trigger safety is your thing, and you are allowed to carry modified/butchered handguns on your permit (very unlikely), more power to you. For me it's neither, that's why my off roster Shield has no thumb safety or any other nanny state junk. When and if SD starts issuing, you'll be shopping for the real deal. Until then, range toys gonna be range toys.
