    45 GAP impressions

Anyone own a Glock chambered in the 45 GAP? What are your impressions? I've read some comments online saying the Glocks chambered in this round are some of the most accurate and well balanced of the Glock family.

Some negative comments also, mostly that the GAP round is trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist, mostly from those that have never fired one.

I'm keeping an open mind. If anyone owns a GAP pistol or has a strong opinion on the round, let's hear it.

I am looking into the 45 GAP too. I understand felt recoil is similar to 40 S&W. It's 10+1 and in CA that is the best we should expect.

Sportsman Guide has used police G37 for $370 and its on the roster.

One guy on here replaced his XDs .45 with a G39 for his woods gun.

If I want to buy a round that is not widely stocked, I would get the .460 Rowland for a glock.... more like a 44 mag....

        I don't get the 45 gap

It's not commercially viable to me.... just a saami specked wildcat....

If the other companies would make a gun in the round, then it might make it....

When mail order ammo goes away, how do you pop into a "store"'and find ammo for it?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I reload so not too concerned about finding it on the shelf. Why do you say it's hard to reload for? Brass availability?

I guess if I had one I'd load it up with 540+ ft lb Double Tap 185 gr Nosler's... but ask myself why I bothered when there are lots of good Underwood 10mm or even .357 Sig choices to get to 600+ and 700+ ft lbs. If I wanted something unique but powerful I'd get into 9x25 Dillon first.

YEP, all of this opinion is from a guy who has never fired a 45 GAP

It's not really a matter of having fired one, but a matter of practicality.

45 GAP is borderline wildcat caliber. Like many other wildcat calibers, there is really nothing wrong with them as long as one is aware of all the usual peculiarities that come with the wildcat, primarily that it's much more for hobbyists than for pragmatic shooters.

45 GAP is the same price as 45ACP around here and not hard to find. 4 LGS have it out 6 around here. Hard to reload says who. Do it all the time

It cost is a problem for anyone then this game isn't for you. Round works a LEOs still use it. GAP guns are cheap to buy used. They make a great woods/Car gun.

What ammo isn't trying to solve an issue that doesn't exist? Even if it isn't a revolutionary round, every manufacturer has made their own round and this was glocks, which apparently works very well in their gun.

OK - I'll go ahead and explain. Right now on http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php
there are 13 sellers for .45 GAP. There are 250 sellers of ACP.
Right now on gun deals .com - the lowest price for GAP is .36. The lowest for .45ACP is .20. (nearly HALF as much).

For reloading? I can go to any range and pick up handfuls of ACP or just pick up my brass and know I can reload it. Try THAT with GAP. slightly different sized brass. So if you reach down and pick up a .45 piece of brass, 99% chance it will be an ACP not a GAP.

THAT is why it's overpriced, hard to find and not worth it. IMHO.

Are you sure? The space between "45" and "GAP" doesn't increase the price?

(Just kidding, we all know what you meant )

Yes, nothing wrong with the cartridge. It is simply a fringe cartridge. I shoot 45 Automatic for all the reasons stated previously by Cal.Bar in post #12. It is just that simple. If the 45 GAP were that popular I would be shooting it instead of 45 Automatic. But, it isn't.
