Kimber Custom II or Springfiels GI ?

Both are entry level for 45ACP Kimber and Springfield . Kimber Custom II and Springfield GI (NOT the Loaded model), which one you choose ?

You can't go wrong with either. My first gun was a Kimber custom II over 10 years ago. I probably have over 10k rounds and I haven't replaced any parts which I should.

Pretty sure the question relates to the Turners sale on Friday. As they're both on sale at the Orange location.

Having dealt with Kimber's warranty on 2 separate occasions. I will never buy another Kimber. On both occasions they stood by their 1 year warranty, and no, neither were rust on barrel related.

The kimber might seem like a better deal, but get the springer if you need to buy a 1911 in the ad.

Try both in your hand, and decide whether you like the upgraded feel of the custom II over the standard GI ergonomics. If it doesn't matter to you, the Springer is a great deal with the 4 extra mags they currently come with. FWIW, I love my Kimber, and the only problem I had out of the box with it was a NON kimber mag(a cheap one) that interfered with the slide stop. That was the cheap mags fault, and I was easily ably to even get that mag to function in it. . Not a fan of the Custom II firing pin safety after I had an incident changing the rear sight myself(my fault), but I removed that and it is a series 70 now. Nothing wrong with a Kimber out of the box.

Unless if you have a particular preference for a 1911 with a spur hammer and no beaver tail grip safety, the Kimber is a better choice. Far better sights and beaver tail, that is an extra $150 to $200 (if you do labor) that you get with Kimber Custom II vs SA Mil spec and they sell for almost the sale price. Besides thay, if you have never shot a 1911 with spur hammer, my.strong recommendation is to do that before buying. Has nothing to do with macho factor but some people get hammer bites. Just a heads up.

I think both are nice comparable guns. But with the magazine and goodie deal that Springfield is running, I would go with Springfield.

Kimber. The package from springfield gear up is MAYBE worth $100, 1911 mecgar mags online for $15-$20 all day
