Austrian proofed Glocks

I came across an Austrian proofed Gen3 Glock 22. My FFL claimed it's worth more than a standard Glock... is this true? If so, how much?

I was going to let him keep the frame and just use the parts for a homebuild, but maybe I should do paperwork and sell it or something.

No.

It's actually the opposite. USA-made ones are worth more (though, not much more) in CA, because there are none on the roster. In free states, their values are the same.

Austrian gen3's (of any current model, including the 22) are a dime a dozen.

The only thing that "might" make an Austrian gen3 G22 more valuable is if it's a factory color other than black or OD.

Most every glock has Austria on the rollmark.

From the DOJ Roster website:

No Generation 4 Glock handguns have been approved as of: Sunday, April 16, 2017

No Glock handguns made in the USA have been approved as of: Sunday, April 16, 2017

So unless your Glock falls into one of those 2 categories, or is otherwise not listed in the roster, then it's worth normal market value for a used glock - between $400-$500 for one in good condition.

USA-made variants of a glock which has an austrian version on the roster (ie, a USA-made gen3 G22), while technically being an off-roster pistol, aren't really worth much more than their austrian counterparts, because nobody really cares where it was made and are perfectly content buying an austrian version of the same thing.

Definitely nobody is going to pay more for an on-roster Austrian model than for an off-roster USA version, though.

Have to be A Glock Head to know this, even people that work at Glock don't know about this. Private Contractors seem to like the AP Glocks a bit better then the normal Glocks. It's rare to find a AP Glock in 40. OP if you don't want it, I am more then willing to buy it from your FFL.

I'm pretty sure the Austrian Proof Glocks have that finish that I think is more durable. I had one years ago and the finish wouldn't scratch. I think its the tennifer finish like on the older model Glocks. I think.

This is about proof marks on the slide and frame.
Many European countries require all firearms to be proofed by independent "proof houses".

If you're a Glock collector then sure, you need to have one of these. If you think it's higher quality or more reliable than "non-proofed" Glocks, then think critically about the manufacturing processes, or even better buy one of each and test/report back.
