Infinity Firearms (SVI) owners, single stack or wide body?

Hello calgunners, I'm new here but not to shooting, I have 4 pistols so far and they are: Nighthawk talon (chrome), Wilson combat protector, Ed Brown Kobra Carry and an STI Apeiro. I would like my 5th pistol to be from Infinity Firearms. Wait time right now is 12-15 months. I know all the process already. I'm still debating if I'm gonna get a single stack or a wide body. I'm not competing but I'm above average in shooting, I just like shooting nice pieces at my own convenient time. I never had any single problem with all of my pistols that's why I'm asking help from people here at calguns if I should get a single stack or a wide body? Post in some pics too if you want so I'd know what not to get, I want my design to be the only one around and I know you also want yours to be unique too. Thanks and let's all be safe.

If I have the money like you do I'll get the wide body with AET Barrel.

Double stack mags will be hard to come by. I will suggest single stack for easy mag availability. You are not losing much here anyway.
I have the double stacked SVI sight tracker in 9mm and 45ACP and really liked it. Thinking about my next single stack SVI soon.

I just hit month 12 so don't have mine yet. It will be in just in time for the mag ban .

I'd look at the picture gallery on site if you want it to be unique. With the combinations of serrations and cuts etc. I am sure you can get a somewhat unique build.

Go widebody it will give you the option of changing grip type, texture or color.

I was told by SVI that in 6-8 months I'll receive the CA version and after the 10 day waiting period I have to send it back to them for customization finishing, if I got the CA version before the year ends that would exclude me from the mag ban right? I'm awaiting my quote based on pic 3028, I'm gonna put a custom engraving on the rear part of the slide.

No. No one is exempt from the mag ban, even those of us that have had pre-ban mags. You'll either have to get them blocked to 10 rounds or get 10 round mags from MBX, or ship them out of State.

In regards to SVI sending CA version in 6-8 months . I was told 90 days before delivery date they'd send me the CA roster version. It has been 12 months so far since my order. So, based on their 90 day comment and 15 month delivery I am expecting a call in regards to my FFL info any day now.

If you haven't placed an order I don't see any way you will receive the firearm before the end of the year.

What is your intended use of the pistol? You understand that on the wide body, it's a multi-part frame, right? Some folks feel differently on this but a multi-part frame is not something that I want in a carry gun. If it's just going to be a range or competition gun, then no problem.

There's also the issue of being in California and that the wide body is only buying you two extra rounds. Is that significant enough to you? Or do you intend to move out of CA soon or attend matches outside the state?

Mag cost/availability for the wide body has already been brought up.

If you're ok with all this, then go wide body. You've got enough single stacks that it would probably be nice/fun to have a wide body.

Availability of 10rnd mags is not an issue. Just call sv and they will make them.

I don't believe the mbx will work with the new sv grips. But I'm not the expert....yet haaha.

It's not just about double vs single stack and two rounds. The double stacks offer more grip options and they just behave differently than a single stack.

With that being said my rostered gun is in jail right now. 15 months exactly. After that gets sent back I have no idea how long it'll take for the customized gun to arrive. Thats a wide body and I'm already on gunbuilder drafting up a single stack. Just remember that if you might ever want to play USPSA with the single stack then there's building parameters that need to be followed unlike limited where you're pretty much free to do what you want. Good luck and resurrect this post when your SV arrives!

Oh I'll add this, the transferred gun looks blah but the fit, action, and trigger on it were unreal, as in amazing. My STI's don't even compare to it. And it isn't customized yet!

Darn, that means total of 18 months from start to finish if what they had said about sending the rostered gun 90 days prior is correct. I was really hoping to get my rostered gun any day now (12 months since order) .

I ordered at the end of last Jan. So yea pretty much 15 mos. What I didn't ask is how long from when they receive the gun till the completed order is ready to ship. So I don't know if its 90 days or what. Life has me in a position where the time isn't an issue so I'm not worried about it. I never asked about a time and never called to check on my order. I just let it be and in the back of my mind I knew there will be a surprise in the future haaha.

This is my first SVI that I'm getting, when I started shooting my single stacks I was surprised and happy the way it shoots, last year I jumped for joy when my parents from out of state gave me the Apeiro as a Birthday Present, after shooting it I told myself my next pistol would be another wide body or 2011 there is something that separates single stack and wide body don't know what it is. I'm so excited to get a wide body from SVI can't describe how I'm gonna feel after the range report based on your analysis. I'm convinced that I'll go with the wide body. Thanks

Right now i have no plans on joining uspsa or idpa yet, I'm just using my pistols on an indoor range where I'm a member, a lot of benefits being a member of that range, first no range fee, 2nd shooter just $7, no restrictions on members meaning I can shoot faster that non members who can only shoot once every 3 seconds. What I do is pay $7 for 2nd shooter every time I go there and I put 2 targets. That's how I enjoy my pistols. Thanks a bunch
