    S&W 9mm Shield Lock up

I was shooting the Shield with 9mm Magtech ammo. After 40 plus rounds, the ammo got locked up in the chamber unfired. Wouldn't shoot, wouldn't eject. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Any ideas? Ammo or the pistol?

Had to forcefully rack the slide to eject the ammo.

Hmm... more info would be helpful. Is it a new firearm? Previously unfired, or has rounds through it? Did you do a clean and lube it before shooting? When you pulled the trigger on the last round, did you hear a click, of the firing pin? Did you examine the round that didn't get fired--was there light primer mark on it? That's where I'd start.

The firearm was new but cleaned and lubed prior to use. As I mentioned, I fired approximately 40 plus rounds prior to the lock. No noticeable noise or weird situations before the lockup. The ammo that was ejected, severely crimped the brass. Wish I saved it and took pictures.

Clean any gunk or factory preservative out of the chamber. Clean it well. Then do the plunk test on all of your remaining Magtech ammo. See if there are still any fitment issues. If not, then fire away.

Please excuse my ignorance. What is a plunk test? How do you perform it?

Pull your barrel out of your slide and hold it vertically (chamber top side). Grab a round and drop it into the barrel. It should easily "plunk" right in and when the barrel is turned upside down easily fall out. If it doesn't then ammo is out of spec. In rare case the barrel is out of spec

I had a similar issue with reloads in a Ruger lc9. Probably the ammo. Keep us posted.
