Do G17s Suffer from the Same Follower Issue as G19s?

I have about 10+ 10 rounders that I've gotten around 2009 + and I've never once experienced any type of weird jamming with the California 10 round followers that i always read about. I try all sorts of different hollow points and random ammo and zero issues.

The best 9mm Glock mags in my opinion have the newer 9mm6 followers. I don't have a model 17 so I don't know if the 10 rounders have them or not. I know that the free state current Glock mags have the 9mm6 follower and the little Glock 26 has it as well. If your stuck with the 2183 or 9mm3 followers, Winchester Ranger has given me the best results. So um... moon labia or something.Comment

I have read that Glock has redesigned the 10 round magazines for the 19 , but I don't know if they have started shipping them with new guns or are trying to deplete old stock.Comment

Great Question PoorMan. Tagged.
I was just thinking about this the other day. I recently picked up a G34 and was wondering/worried about the 10 rd G17 mags w/ 2183 followers.
Interesting. Where did you read this? A link would be great.
I swapped all of my 10rd OEM G19 mags with 9mm6 followers. Been running them pretty hard for a couple years now. They have been through hell and back, no issues of any kind.Last edited by INFAMOUS762X39; 04-06-2017, 1:51 PM.Comment

When the Gen 4 Glocks first came out, I don't remember anyone complaining about the 17 while there were many complaints about the 19.Originally posted by G. Michael HopfHard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.Comment

Who has a 10 round magazine on a Gen 4 Glock?
My CA G19 Gen 3 (2183) had teething pain but after 500 rounds it was well broken in. For those that prefer JHP they just need to be broken in.

That's what I remember too, but I was hoping I was going to get a bunch of conclusive statements that the 19 was the only problem child. Seems no one is 100% sure.
I'll test my G17 on my own of course.Comment

Switching from 2183 to 9mm3 followers have solved the problems for me. This affects any ten round mag that uses the 2183 followers. The best 9mm Glock mags in my opinion have the newer 9mm6 followers. FWIW, I only ever had problems with my 2183 followers when replicating the test protocol I read on an old thread here. Here is that procedure to see if you're JHP's will have an issue
1. Lock slide back
2. With only ONE round in magazine, insert magaine
3. Release slide using slide stop
4. Jam on feed ramp (Y/N)?
With 2183 followers I had this happen a handful out of 10 times. With 9mm3 followers, no problem with the SD rounds I carry. Could not replicate the problem with more than one round in the mag or when releasing slide via overhand grasp - just using slide stop.
All of this to say, I personally think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. I still changed the followers to be safe. Hope this helpsComment

Do G17s Suffer from the Same Follower Issue as G19s?
Just called Glock on this very issue. Just bought a Glock 19 with those 10 round mags. First snap cap I loaded, had a failure to feed. Not really indicative of anything but still, decided to swap out the followers.
I asked them if they would send me some 9mm6 followers.
Received a message from the tech support guy saying that the 9mm6 followers would not work and that they are sending me the 1812-3 followers. Thought this was interesting info. Anyone using these followers?

1812-3 is the sku number for the 9mm3 followers. I still had issues with those in my G19. Others have had good luck with them.Last edited by PoorMan; 04-07-2017, 11:41 AM.Comment

I swapped all mine out with 9mm6 followers. You have to remove a little material from the feed lips to accomodate them.Originally posted by G. Michael HopfHard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.Comment
