    SF Bay Area gunsmith?

I have a Ruger P89DC. The allen key for the rear dovetail sight is stripped so I need someone to get it out and install some new sights. Any recommendations for a gunsmith in the SF Bay Area or somewhere where I could send the slide to have it done?

You may want to check with the gunsmith at 29 outdoor sports and American Canyon.

I've heard good things about the gunsmith at Imbert & Smithers in San Carlos. I've never taken anything there, because I think the counter guys at Imbert & Smithers are dickheads. But if I couldn't find anyone else, I might give them a try.

City Arms in Pacifica does sight switches IIRC, at least they've done them on pistols folks have bought there. Not sure what they charge for a "walk in".

I have a P89 and the rear sight sits pretty low. What do you plan on replacing with and will it require a different front sight?

I didn't know they had a gunsmith - thanks for the info

"Easy-outs" work well for that type of thing...Soak with plenty of penetrating lubricant first and give it a try.

              It's not stuck - it's stripped

An "Easy Out" is a screw extractor (kind of like a reverse drill bit). However, I doubt you'll find one small enough.

I have the same issue, like OP, on my glock Taran Tactical rear sight set screw, the screw is stripped during the installation, so it can't be taken out with regular hex wrench.
I have checked a few screw extractors but the size is too large to fit. I guess both OP and I need a gunsmith in the SF bay to take out the screw.

I did a quick search on Amazon for "micro screw extractor" and there are quite a few options that would work.

Just an FYI in case you guys want to try it yourself without a gunsmith.

If you want it out, I can help. What condition do you want the rear sight to be in afterwards ?
