Just a question on the striker block on M&Ps they use a spring under the rear sites. If the spring was lost, would the striker still lock and unlock without the spring or it will just be loose without spring tension on block

Gravity would in theory reset the striker block, but it wouldn't be reliable. Gun would still fire but consider the striker block dead without the spring. So, yes, the striker block would be loose in the channel. -
Friend of mind got one used and was trying ask this. His block still retracts in and out. He for some reason thought the spring was goneCC/LTC Review Links

Ask him to put the slide upside down on the table and press down the striker block. If the spring is there, the striker block will come right back up when he lets up. If the spring isn't there, the striker block should sink in the recess the moment he turns the slide upside down, but press down on it anyway to make sure it isn't somehow stuck up by fluke.Comment

Slide upside down and it goes in and out. I'm guessing it's good. Striker doesn't move forward unless his block is pushed downCC/LTC Review Links
