Same with those paying $1k for an off roster Shield 45. It just plain hurts. Hurts so bad, it stings. Stings and burns. Burns like Godzilla.

Grab your Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield 9mm Centerfire Pistol (California Compliant) for sale at Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore.

You could order from here. If your FFL charges a $25 transfer fee, you end up at $370+tax+dros-$75.

Wow wish I was around those places . went by my local ffl where I have 300 bucks in gift cards from relatives over the last christmas or two, and they had 3 shields, 485 a piece on the sticker....not counting taxes, plus 35 in fees.

Would be 100 for ffl fees and admin fees to transfer one in...hmmm

PSA is selling those for $345 or so. 9mm under $250 with the rebate. That ought to hurt.

It may simply be that they misjudged conditions, and would like to clear this inventory from their stock. Which doesn't mean the Shield isn't moving, it may just not be moving as fast as they'd anticipated.
Or...one of their competitors is bringing a similar gun to market, and S&W are trying to fill market capacity with Shields before that happens. If you can build brand loyalty with the shield, you can use it as a loss leader, especially of their market research shows that once a consumer has a S&W product, the likelihood of buying other S&W products increases.

Lots of reasons why rebates could be offered, it isn't always just to move dead stock or clear inventory entirely.

Also add in Springfield doing their Gear Up Promo, it could be hurting S&W's sales with people being swayed to the better deal. I noticed similar timing in the Ammo Rebates from Federal/CCI (Vista) brand and now Remington is in the game.

Sorry, I was meaning Remington ammo doing a rebate that pretty much coincides with Vista Outdoor's (Federal/CCI/Blazer)rebates. I was implying S&W might be trying to sway potential Springfield Customers their way.
