    CA 1911 Pistolsmith??

Do any of you know of a good 1911 pislolsmith in California, one that does good quality work on frame/slide build and refinishing?

I will be getting my Springfield Milspec in about 10 days from my FFL, and I am contemplating of getting some work done to it. I know there are some well-known gunsmiths outside the state, but I prefer to have my gun done here in CA rather than shipping it out.

Thanks for any feedback you can give.

Never used him but I may here shortly because of the ****storm at SACS. Craig Maraviov in Woodland always gets great reviews.

Will O'Hara in corona, CA does phenomenal work. He only works on 1911s and S&W revolvers.

He says Nor Cal folks. Tanaka and O'hara are 400 miles away. There have to be some top notch smiths in SF to San Jose area.

OP, do a google fu for gun smith in your city and more than a few will pop up. But ask around before you give him your gun for any work. There are plenty of butcher job stories..
Another thing, get ready to live without the mil spec for a while. Most shop work takes a looong time. Not trying to discourage you. Just a heads up.
                        Congrats on the new 1911.

They are not accepting custom work for while now. Not sure of the reason but not good news. That is one custom shop that did great work with reasonable turn around..

Probably swamped, maybe the FBI is ordering again.
