9mm Springfield Operator RO vs Combat Operator?

I'm sure I'm just a bit slow... But can anyone explain to me the difference between the two?

Aside from the checkering on the front straps, different rear sights and finish? Or am I missing something else significant that causes the price disparity between the two?

The RO Operator has a fiber optic front sight and a fixed low profile combat rear sight. It also has a half rail. The standard RO has adjustable target sights and no rail.

I love my Combat Operator and if you're able to get one, I would highly reccommend it.

The Combat Operator has a fiber optic front sight, blacked out 10-8 rear, front strap checkering, NO front cocking serrations, G10 style grips, machined barstock extractor, NON ILS mainspring housing, tool steel hammer and sear, single sided safety, normal bushing and gi style guide rod, black and gray finish

The Range officer has a fiber optic front sight, NO front strap checkering, parkerized finish, front cocking serrations, single sided safety, normal bushing and gi style guide rod

Didn't realize it had that many additional features. That RO Operator is at the top of my want list.

          HK...
Sounds like you're pretty happy with yours? How's your experience with the Combat Operator thus far? Any fun or interesting quirks?

I LOVE mine, it's so much fun to shoot and there is literally no recoil and the action is SUPER SMOOTH. Everyone that has handled it commented on how smooth the action was and the action was like it was on ball bearings (literally). It's my all time favorite to 1911 to shoot, and third favorite 1911 in my collection falling short to the Rail Professional and Non rail professional.

The only minor issue I had was that my first range outing, the whole fiber optic fell off Like the whole front sight just slide off.... I guess they cut too much material of the front sight...

I sent in the gun to Springfield and 6 weeks later (the longest I have ever had to wait on Springfield) I got it back. While it was there, I had Springfield tighten the frame to slide even more and tune the trigger. They installed a brand new front sight and brand new rear sight and included a test target all for free.

Since then I put 500 flawless rounds through it and it makes shooting at 25 yards super easy. Might have to send it back to the Custom Shop (whenever they decided to open up again ) for some more modifications. (undercut trigger guard, flush slide stop nub, flatten top of slide and serrate, ambi safety, etc)

Indeed, the RO operator was at the top of the list till I found out about the combat operator 😋

HK, don't feel too bad. My 9mm Remington R1 Enhanced had teething problems too. The factory extractor was less than optional. I couldn't make it through a mag without FTEs. Would pinch the brass and jam it into the LCI cutout, locking up the gun. After about 300 rounds I called it quits and ordered a Wilson Combat bullet proof extractor. 100% ever since, very Glock like reliabily.

The Combat Operator seems like it would be a great setup.
