    California Sucks!

I hate the laws and regulations that we have to deal with in california. So the gun store called me to tell me that the walther p22 i ordered is here, but that it is not california legal. When i ordered it, the website didn't specify if it was cal compliant. I also didnt take note to find out. It's not legal cause it has a threaded barrel, and in california it's not legal to have a threaded barrel. thats stupid shi*. So i had to eat $20 worth of shipping, and now i have to wait another week before i get the gun in, plus the ten day waiting period. California sucks. I'm also a car guy, and you cant even modify your car or it's illegal. CALIFORNIA SUCKS. Whats the point of the right to bare arms if they get to put restrictions on certain things.

Rant over? Nothing new........it does suck. But for me the good things about California outweigh the bad things. If California bothers you this much, there are 49 other states in America. None of them have Calguns.net though!

While I do agree with you, this part is your responsibility.

Not to crap on the OP, but really... you didn't know the laws before ordering?

As far as modifing your car the same principal applys. Check the laws before committing to a new part.

......because it is the responsibility of the buyer to know whether or not the item being purchased is legal in their state.

Really, regardless of where you live you have to make sure that whatever you're buying is legal. Some states are alot better than others, but there's a whole slew of them out there that have significant restrictions.

Yep sorry to hear your problem, but you've got to do your homework and make sure what you order on line is CA legal.

If you had ordered through a FFL, they would have known if it was legal or not. Seems like you have to eat shipping three times, and an extra dros. Anyway I hope that whatever state you end up in lets you bare arms, so you can keep that tan.

Just a question -- why didn't you order the P-22 through your local store? It's not a big ticket item, so maybe you saved some money, but then had transfer fees and shipping. I don't know why guys go to GB or Shotgun news for guns that are available on their local shelves? After the costs involved sometimes they save like 20 bucks.

What will you do when the local store goes out of business and you need ammo, etc?
If the price is close, eat it and buy at your store.
                  then you would have been:

                  1) supporting your store

                  and

                  2) definitely getting the CA legal version.

I can't help wondering, based on the little faux pas you've confessed to here, if you are a novice to the intricacies of Second Amendment law and politics.

If you are a novice, I hope you will take the time, if you have not done so already, to begin studying Second Amendment law, Second Amendment politics, and to buy memberships in every guddanged gun nut organization you can find, starting with the NRA.

We need more people who are pissed off and who are not content to suck it up and make a hobby out of jumping through hoops and ferreting out loop holes, as if these were worthwhile ways to spend one's life.

It is only going to get worse.

If you haven't already done so, get politically active NOW.

PS - I had a P-22 that I bought before they noticed they had threaded BBls and put them on the list. Smith and Wesson (Walther's importer) switched out the barrel free so it would be legal.

Than the Neanderthal imbecile at Greta's ruined the barrel trying to field strip the gun. Great.

The whole reason of the OP's anger is the fact that California has these EXTRA laws to begin with. I am a car guy as well and know where he's coming from.

PS: As far as having 49 other states, they don't offer the same career opportunities as in California (at least not in my line of work), otherwise I'd move.

Hey guys easy on the bashing! I'm a newbie to the gun world, and the website, and the site that i bought my gun from didnt; give a clear description and thats where the confusion came from. Also, those two things that i mentioned, the car laws and guns laws, make california a little hard to bare. But the rest of it is great. By far better than the rest of the 49 states. I love cal. also, i know very well all the rules and regs of the smog laws here, which i take into count before i modify my car, i know the rules cause i'm an amateur race driver. I just think it's crap. But none the less, i was pretty much just complaining about the fact the a small thing such as a threaded barrel can be the deciding factor whether or not the gun is legal. So what! but its too bad only the old fat rich white men make the rules. Also, my local gun dealer is selling the p22 for 450 plus state fees, which would put it about 50 over what i got it for and also they dont; have the color i want, and about 93% of the other shops and website are out of stock, and the manufacturer is on back order for months. I want it now.
