Sig 556 pistol

Can anyone tell me whether or not a Sig 556 pistol can be modified for sale in California?

Configure it so that is in an non-AW configuration, so a fixed 10-round mag, would make it legal in CA.

Now, in order to transfer it from a dealer, it must be in a Roster-exempt configuration, single-shot, or you must be a person who is exempt from the Roster, such as LE. Configuring it to be single-shot should be possible iwth a fixed-mag release and a zero-round mag like the SLED.

No, I don't. AFAIK, it must be in a non-AW config before it comes into the state. And converting to a roster-exempt config is probably better done outside of CA. Not 100% sure about the second part.

People that want these types of pistols usually use a middleman FFL like freakshow10mm to californicate the pistol before it is shipped to your local FFL.

Buy one of these and mail it along with your Bullet Button to a friendly out of State vendor who can install it on the SIG 556 Pistol for you and ship it to your CA FFL.

Got it, thanks again. The gun is currently for sale at Botach Tactical in Los Angeles, so it's already here in our wonderful state. It was advertised in a GunBroker auction. Now all I need to do is figure out a way to make it mine....

The 30" requirement has to do with semiautomatic, centerfire rifles, in the context of assault weapons, not pistols.

If it is a semi-auto centerfire RIFLE, then it must be 30".

If it is a single-shot pistol that you want transfered in a Roster-exempt transfer, it must be meet the following specifications.

12133.
(b) The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to a single-shot pistol with a barrel length of not less than six inches and that has an overall length of at least 10 1/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.

Hmm im not so sure LEO would look upon it like that, given there are reports of LEO taking away full size black rifles for just being Black rifles even with fixed, mags.

You can't prevent any specific LEO from hassling you even though you have a firearm that fully complies with the law.

Hmm i think im getting it seen how there is no buttstock that houses the spring that pushes back the bolt chambering another round. So you have to cock it every shot correct?

Single-shot means it fires one shot before you have to reload. In this case it's similar to a bolt-action rifle, but one without a magazine which feeds additional rounds.
