    Bersa Thunder 380

    Hi all,

Still learning the ropes in this forum. Anyone have a BT380 in satin nickel finish? I am expecting to pick mine up from the local gun shop this week and I want to get some proper gun cleaning solvents and such so I can break her down and give a thorough cleaning before I put some rounds through her. Because it is this satin nickel finish, does it require lots of pampering or normal care to maintain the finish? Also, does it rust easier than the matte blue/black version?

    Thanks

I have one in satin nickel... it seems pretty sturdy but word is it doesn't like any solvents with ammonia (Hoppe's)... I use Breakfree CLP and it cleans up real nice...

Also, many need a bit of a break-in period for ammo (couple hundred rounds) - use ball ammo - mine likes Remington... Magtech is highly recommended, I've had good luck with Independence... mine did not like Sellior Benoit, but didn't have a problem with WWB (some do). Wait until after a couple hundred rounds before you try hollow point...

Have fun! It's a nifty little shooter!

also SIGman - be sure and clean all the packing grease outta it real good before you shoot... it's nasty stuff and will gum you up...

and after you field strip it, figure out which end of the spring on the barrel is the narrower end (pinky test)... the narrow end goes on the barrel first...

do those 2 things and you should have a very reliable little gun.
