Smith & Wesson 686

I've decided to get a .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson 686 Plus (7 Shot) 4" for my first revolver. I've never bought a gun online so I'm thinking about buying from Buds Gun Shop.

Is $683.00 a pretty good price?

If I calculated it correctly, shipped and transferred I should be looking at $816.06 (Lower than all the gun shops around me.)

It's a great gun. Really love mine. The L frame handles .357 Magnum recoil quite nicely, and .38spl has virtually no felt recoil. That price for a brand new one is fair.

Try and find dealer that can do the transfer for a lower price and that will bring you into the high $700s.

I have a 686 plus with 6" barrel. It is a sweet shooter let me tell you. Just this past weekend I shared a bench at 100 yards with a guy who had one. Was hitting a steel plate pretty proficiently.

I have a 686+ and it's an excellent revolver. Mine has the non changeable front sight and that's my only complaint. The red insert ramp sight isn't the fastest in shooting steel.

I can get one from my LGS for $749+tax+dros. My calc says $833.92.

So for less than $20, I get to:

1. inspect before I lay down any cash.
2. Support a local business.
3. Perhaps negotiate a further discount due to my repeat business (and eliminate any cost difference).

If it's in stock locally, perhaps they will match the OTD price.

The only other handgun I own is an M&P Shield, I held the S&W 686 and was surprised how heavy the double action trigger is, but the single action.... that's super light!
