    STI build

    Hello,
I want to do a STI build, but looking over my options I only have 2 choices, get a lower 80% percent or buy an old STI before the Handgun roster. First off is this my only 2 choices? Second if I build an 80% I have to have it serial numbered by July 1st, so does that mean I can never build another one every again?

            As of now...

You cannot convert a frame that was used to build a semi-auto to begin with, or ever had semi-auto parts put on, into a single-shot to go through the SSE process. This was the process before but is no longer allowed...

You CAN build a single-shot compliant pistol (including barrel length and overall length requirements) and transfer such pistol on a frame that was bare, now.

However, new Penal Codes indicates that once you build and transfers a California-compliant safe pistol, if you remove the single-shot parts and proceed to build a semi-auto pistol on top of the same frame, you have now manufactured an unsafe pistol in the eye of California law makers and you'll be in trouble if caught. No one has been made an example of this yet, so up to you if you want to be the test case...

I believe the serializing requirement for home builds comes into effect July of 2018. After such time, you must request a serial number from DOJ, pay the fee, and engrave it upon your build prior to building it.

Read this thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1312380. Same laws apply to 1911 builds.

Depending on your location, 2A zone can help obtain a frame! They are highly recommended!

No doubt 2A can help, I've even contacted them myself, however, the current PC is not in our favor for what the OP, and I wanted to do.
