    SW Model 29 Classic series

    Hi Guys,

How is the newer SW 29 6.5 inch classic 44 mag revolver compared to non lock older versions? Is the quality, bluing and workman ship close to the older models? other than the lock ofcourse.

    They are selling for $1029.

    Please advice.

    thanks

I have no experience with the newer 29s ...but for that kind of money, why not pick up a used, old school quality 29? Smith put out some fine quality pieces in the 60s,70s , 80s and even into the 90s.

I just took delivery of a new S&W 36 classic series Chief Special and I had the same concerns (started a thread a few pages down on the same subject). I own many older Smiths including a mid '70's M27 w/8-3/8" in mint condition for comparison and the finish on the new 36 is just as fine as on the 27. High polish, deep blued. Couldn't be happier. As far as the lock hole? no big deal to me. I will never use it. Never could understand the big deal over it other than people don't like change or whatever
