HK USP Tactical clone build legality?

I have a USP 45 and really like the way USP Tacticals look. I was wondering if I could purchase a threaded barrel for it, purchase a fake suppressor and pin them together? It would be pinned prior to assembling the slide and frame together again. So that way it would not be an assault weapon correct? Would there be any legal issues? I understand that I would not be able to fully disassemble the handgun, but this would be for looks/range gun toy only. I have plenty of firearms for home defense. Thanks for any inputs!

Ok but what if you ever encounter a problem where you'd need to field strip the handgun?

Its a HK. It doesn't encounter problems. It takes care of problems. No compromise

I'd say shoot for a match clone and avoid the
Possible cleaning / or Jamm headaches

What look exactly are you trying to duplicate? the extended barrel look or the 'fake can' look?

You can buy an extended non-threaded barrel from Jarvis-custom.com and make your standard HK USP look like a tactical. I bought one to replace my Tactical's threaded barrel to make it CA legal. Its accuracy is on par with the factory HK barrel.

It's legal. Make sure it's permanent . I'm just not sure why anyone would want to do this just for looks . You're probably going to need suppressor height sites also by the time you're done you're going to be into this for probably as much as the cost of the original gun

Sorry I wasnt too clear. I like the "suppressed" look of the USP Tactical. Not just an extended barrel. Thanks for your guys input.

Not really, a threaded barrel costs ~150, suppressor sights costs ~150, fake can costs ~50.

Just another data point - if the fake can is too heavy
the pistol won't cycle. Hence my suggestion to do a match clone
but I understand you are going for a look, just make sure it will
                    function.

Just keep in mind that the fake can needs to be 11.5oz or less and 8.75" long or less or the pistol may not function

Also if it is over 1.38 in diameter you will not get sights to work

Cool! When did Jarvis has start making HK45 barrels? About 2 years ago I had to settle for an HK factory barrel for my OD HK45T.

I've got a Jarvis barrel for my OD USP45. It doesn't really like LSWC, but loves everything else and is super accurate.
