Question on Springfield MC Operator in CA

I've been looking for a new Springfield Marine Corps Operator from an out of state FFL that is CA legal. After calling around I've still gotten no definitive answers. I know there are new and old models of the gun the px9105ml or mlp and a px9110ml or mlp the older one having the rubber pacmayer grips and instead of the g10s on the new one. Also I've heard something about the guns needing to have the ILS feature to be CA legal? I know the "P" at the end stands for package (mags and holster) and that the older model number px9105ml is on the roster but with the "P" added it is not. I've heard some people say theirs end with a P or that they've been able to tranfer from out of state to their FFL.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Both are CA legal. Like you wrote "P" just means that the pistol comes with extra goodies.

The older model which is on the roster doesn't come with an ILS if I recall. At least mines didn't when I bought it brand new a month ago.

The PX9105ML(P) is perfectly transferable but you have to find an FFL who's knowledgeable about the "P" part of it. I bought mines as the package model and the FFL didn't have any issues with it.

The older models do come with the ILS and the new ones don't. Non ILS models are not on the roster. CA legal on roster versions with the ILS now have a sku with a CA at the end. Refer to Squid's post above.

Your FFL needs no more knowledge than to be able to read, to understand the P is on the roster. Read the roster.

Before 2016, there were no 'CA' SKUs, except for 9105LCA. All of the guns had ILS. So if you find a pre-2016 model, it is on roster even if it does not have the CA in the SKU. Presumably there are and will be a bunch of these ILS guns for sale on Gunbroker etc, new old stock, used and what not.

The roster only lists one 'CA' sku (9105). I am sure more FFLs are oblivious to ILS than FFLs who are aware there was a change in 2016. Most FFLs will not be looking for a CA SKU as long as the sku matches what is on the roster. But the problem is the non-ILS guns now have a giant sticker on the box that says something like 'Not on CA roster' or 'Not legal in CA'.

Explaining the difference between ILS and non-ILS to a FFL, and the effect on the roster, is going to be the challenge. The 'P' is the least of your worries because it is spelled out in plain language that 'P' is Ok. But the roster makes no mention of ILS, most SKUs are not listed with a CA on the roster, and Springfield did not change SKUs when they dropped ILS. All that could make for a goat rodeo.

Just called a couple local FFLs and they told me that even though the "P" designation doesn't stop it from making the list the problem is they changed the gun and never changed the model number so when they get one in without an ILS they have to send it back...

I have a similar question. I just ordered a Loaded 9mm Target from GrabAGun and the SKU listed has the xxxxLCA at the end. The roster has the xxxxL for the SKU. Has anyone ordered something similar from GrabAGun lately? I'm just wondering if I'm going to have any issues.

I remember a while back that GrabAGun was knowledgeable on the SSE process while it was still around. Hopefully I should be fine.

You're good. That is the updated model number for the CA model meaning it was made with the ILS.

It's so dumb that the ILS is required. So many people change the MSH first to get rid of it. I'm actually able to pick up my MC Operator today as of 2:56pm. Probably pick it up tomorrow.
But ya, as long as it has the ILS you're good. The LGS I got mine at has 2 more in stock. They had 3 but they had to send one back because no ILS.

Same thing with my trp. Buds put up a stink and I spoke with 2 people. The second person said they would need to contact my ffl. Something about it not having ca on the model.

So yea I ended up fidning a MC Operator at Ammo Brothers in Santa Ana with some luck. I called Fowlers Gun Room and they said they had one; went over there and they had sold it that morning.
Started just calling around. For some more info my gun was a PX9105MLP on the box since since it came with the mag and gun holster case and 2 mags but the paperwork itself has no "P" on it and when they were entering it in the computer they had some kinda issue where they were asking the manager which serial to use and they said the one with "ca" at the end even though the package or paperwork doesnt have a "ca" but it does come with the ILS and rubber pacmayer grips if that helps tell you what you need.
