    Does Springfield fix factory blemishes?

I know I can find this this out with a call to the company but as they're closed today and I don't know if they're there on the weekend, I figured I'd ask you guys.

I walked into one of my shops today to start my DROS on an FN 5.7. Looked around and staring back at me from one of the cases was a TRP Operator, a gun I've been reading up on but haven't seen in person yet.

Made the mistake of taking it out and decided I needed it in my life.

Unfortunately while going over it, I noticed a chip taken out of the back of the slide. It's very minor and I'm admittedly overly particular but when spending $1600 on something I'd like it to be perfect. I know I'll ding it up but still...

The gentleman behind the counter told me if I bought it and sent it to SA they'd likely send it back to me with a new slide.

Does this seem like something they'd do?

The chip wouldn't affect the functionality at all, just bug me like crazy.
I know these guns are gettable with a bit of patience but thinking this might be a faster alternative than waiting on another to pop up.

For those of you with experience dealing with SA, I'd love to know if this seems like something they'd bother addressing.

Thank for your input, it's appreciated.

Why don't you make the purchase contingent on THEM sending the gun back. If Springfield replace the slide then great, if not move on. IMO it sounds like the damage was caused by the showcase, I doubt Springfield will do it gratis.

While SA probably has the best CS in the business, there's no way they are replacing the slide and I'd even be surprised if they'd refinish it for you under warranty. I'd keep looking if you can't live with the chip. At a minimum the LGS should discount it for you since it's their issue, not yours or SA's.

find another one, why go through the hassle and they're not even giving you a discount.

First of all, you are looking at the wrong price. Around $1400 or so if you do even mild shopping.
Secondly, that dealer/clerk banged the gun in the safe or case. It is not fair to expect Springfield to refinish a gun for free. That is not manufacuring defect. I have dealt with their service and they have always been gracious.
Lastly, like "chapped" said^^, I also doubt that they will accept that. More over, why isn't that dealer sending it back? Instead, he is trying to unload it on you at a retaily price.
I would pass on this one. On roster gun and easy to find. Check on gunbroker and you will see what I mean.

You are not finding the full rail TRP for $1400. $1499 is probably the best price you can find at a LGS. Most sell them for $1599 to $1699.

Doesn't hurt to try and ask. Worse thing they can say is no.

Thanks for the input, some great points. I'll likely just keep an eye out for another or if I can find a dealer to agree on a lower price, order it.

I did inquire about a discount with the chip, they weren't interested. Their feeling was it wasn't going to last long. That's part of why I came here in trying to make up my mind before speaking with Springfield.

I've got another 30 days to wait now anyway so hopefully another will pop up.

                    Thanks again.

They are everywhere right now, no need to rush. Picked up one last year in the Marketplace for $1,250 and it only had 5 rounds through it. Easy to find them new or near new in the Marketplace for $1,450 - $1,550, the ones at $1,600 and up just sit there.
