I would go with the P22. Some are ammo selective but polishing the feed ramp usually cures this.

Mosquito is the LAST 22 pistol you want to buy.

Not sure why anyone would consider the Mosquito with so many documented problems.

            I'd get the P22 or the SR22.

              Browning Buckmark!!!

But out of those two the P22 hands down.

I got the P22-CA a few weeks ago. Compared to photos of old versions of the P22, they've improved a lot of the little flaws that hurt its reputation. Feed ramp is nicely polished, hammer reshaped, magazines redesigned, slide redesigned, and trigger bar ears are rounded now. Only issue is that I'd still want to polish the hammer and breach block a bit so it doesn't "catch" when racking the slide. To be honest though, I haven't had any feeding or firing issues through 1k rounds on Fed Automatch, Golden Bullets, and MiniMags, so I'm hesitant to fix what seems to be a non-issue.

Only problem is that it's a small handgun and will take some practice to find a grip that works if you have big hands.

If you do get it, make sure any extra mags have the extended finger rest.

My wife bought a Sig Mosquito several years ago - among the many guns she tried, it fit her hand the best and easily had the simplest takedown/cleaning.

It's been flawless from day one. I can only assume the QA was horrible for the rest of you.

I don't have any experience with the Mosquito (one of the Sig's I don't have), but I love my P22. Bought it used. It was finicky with ammo at first, then I cleaned/polished/oiled it up and it's been flawless since. .22 ammo is dirty - make sure you strip it down and thoroughly clean/oil it and it gtg.

Can speak for Mosquito: If using High Velocity Recoil Spring - Use CCI mini-mag, Remington Golden Bullet, Winchester Super X. Those were the brands my wife fed hers and they were all reliable. She now shoots 9mm exclusively.

The Sig Mosquito has a reputation for being picky with ammo. The one I rented only liked CCI Mini Mags. Keep that in mind if you decide to go that route.

I'm thinking of picking up a P22 as well, but I'm thinking of picking up a buckmark. The buckmark feels better than the tiny and slender grip of the P22, with more sight options.

There are some great deals on Buckmark 22s right now, and an additional $50 rebate.

Does the p22 have a 9mm version like the mosquito is a smaller version of the p226

Sort of. The latest version of the P22 is modeled after the PPQ, which is unfortunately off roster. The PPQ is a fantastic gun with a great trigger... Now that I mentioned it, the P22 trigger is very nice in its own right.
