Colt Govt 70 Series from 1979 pic

Pick this up in 10 days. Real 70 Series 45 ACP from 1979. This Model was
made for a few years with a dull nickel finish ( this is not stainless)and blued small parts, model was O1975. Barrel, collet bushing, recoil spring plug were blue, grip safety, slide stop, thumb safety, trigger, and grip screws, also. Later
versions substituted black rubber wraparound grips with Colt medallions
for the checkered walnut. In the picture, pistol is dirty, looks to have been fired
but never cleaned nor taken apart---it has no idiot scratch!

I have a Colt series 70 from that era

        It was called "electroless nickel"

Wood grips, all the parts were nickel colored, not blue like yours

Made around 1981, just before Series 80 came out

"While it may come as a surprise to the authors of the legislation, most semi-automatic pistols do in fact come with a pistol grip"
Malthusianism is the idea that population growth is potentially exponential while the growth of the food supply is arithmetical at best.

Electroless Nickel is NOT the same finish as Colts satin nickel. Electroless
Nickel Colts were made in about 1981 in limited numbers---about 1500
each Pythons,Diamondbacks,Gold Cups, etc. Your electroless Nickel is more
          rare then the satin nickel.

              Bad ***! Enjoy!
-- I love the mythological significance given to Dum Dum Bullets. As if they're little tactical nukes, stacked up in "Assault Clips" ready to be "sprayfired" "from the hip" by pistol grip equipped "bullet hoses" instead of early variations of the softpoint bullets people have been using to take game with (and use for self-defense) for the last century.

I had that same gun. Traded it for a gold cup. Traded the gold cup for a Bob Chow pre series 70 Colt.

                  Nice gun. Brings back memories.

I got one back in 1977 - first handgun I ever bought. It's a keeper.
