    S&W Customer Service

Recently I noticed my 9mm Shield is not going into battery as well as it did and I figured it's time for a recoil spring assembly. I looked at all the typical places to no avail. I went on the Smith and Wesson site and could not find one for purchase, so I submitted an information request to S&W regarding where I could buy a spring.

They sent me one! No charge! With all the bashing in society now I wanted to share MY experience with S&W. This makes me appreciate my Shields even more....

The two times I've delt with S&W customer service was 50-50.
The first time was fantastic. They went above and beyond and I wasn't the original owner of a 460V.
The second time was dealing with the Performance Center. Complete joke! Communication and workmanship were horrible. My PC1911 Bobtail went back twice for the same reason. I won't send it back again, I'll have a real pro work on it.

This is exactly the experiences I have heard, about 50/50. My suspicions are anything off the shelf is relatively simple, so service is good. Thanks for sharing......

I am glad they took care of you, but the fact that you cannot find a simple consumable item for sale anywhere in stock, and can only get it by the grace of S&W, is not a good day for S&W or the Shield. IMO. And I say that as a Shield owner.

Some folks will bash Glocks, but you can find any factory part you need, cheap, from a multitude of suppliers. That is why I own more Glocks than anything else.
