I agree with the post above #31. Not my thing but hey go for it. I don't see any re-assembly marks, idiot scratches, holster wear, or slide markings when I look at the sight picture. These things do not matter to me. How do you shoot it and how does it function?

Filing down slide markings on 1911

No, not illegal.
Will you save weight? Yes, a negligible amount of weight will be removed. Not enough to either give a performance benefit or durability liability.
No, won't mess up the "timing". Weigh three different mfr slides and you'll get three different weights.Comment

Can you explain that statement please? I didn't see where there was a discussion of three different guns. The statement about weights was about 3 different slide manufacturers... as in, still 1911 slides. Why is that stupid?Hobbies: bla, bla, bla... Bought a Mosin Nagant... Guns, Guns, Guns...Comment

If you could read you would see he's after reduced weight too. By the time he's ground off enough to perceive a weight difference, cycling could very well be affected. Your comparison to three different manufacturer's guns is stupid because they each engineer their own individual gun.
And news flash, it's a gun, not a watch. Not noticeably affected by minor changes in slide weight (and what he's talking about, if my questionable reading comprehension is right is a very minor weight change). Nobody's engineering 1911s these days, that was done over 100 years ago.
If you read his post and had any ability to understand what he was asking, you'd realize he was asking about removing roll marks, and how the resulting weight change would impact (actually he thought the lighter weight would be a benefit) the performance of his gun.
I love "know-it-alls" who willingly demonstrate how little they actually know.
See, I can play the insult game as well. I just generally choose not to because the internet has enough clowns without my adding to the total.
So lighten up Francis.
