I've sold mine, but I never had a malfunction using SA factory magazines in 450 rounds.

          Very reliable.

Buy it before it's discontinued, I mean run out of stock.

Spent half of 2016 competing with one with 2k+ down the pipe. The softest shooting handgun I own...I own 3 1911s in 9mm...soon to be 4 (2011 Rock Island Double Stack in 9mm/22TCM, in jail at the moment). I want to say it hasn't failed me, but it has. Though I think it is magazine related (metal form and brownells 10 round mags). No issues to report with Wilson Combats or stock Springfield Mags.

I still plan to compete with my Springer. I hope this helps
              Remember I was against registration.

I have had 3 different SA 9mm 1911s and all purchased new. None of them rattled at all and I cant even say the had loose slide fit. Surely not as smooth and buttery as a Wilson bot nothing to disappoint me.
And, they all shot fine with the magazines that came with the fun. Just stainless SA 9mm mags. Those same mags function flawlessly in a kimber 9mm and a STI and a Metro Arms 1911.
The short of it, Springfields are good 1911s. Like any other manufactured gadget, you may come across a unit that has hick ups. Luckily, springfield will service their guns for life with quick turnaround.

Your experience differs 180 degrees from mine. Good for you, you got the good ones.

Still I'll say it again, handle the gun before buying so you know what you're getting. Cause Springfield didn't get that customer service reputation by not having to fix a ton of guns.

Currently own a SA Loaded and love it. Traded for one with a fellow cal gunner and don't regret it one bit. Although, I did have trouble with the original magazines that it came with. Bought Tripp magazines and haven't had a problem since.

What kind of grip/tac rail is that?

Every time I see one of those things, I'm amazed that it seems uglier than the last time.

That's how you make a 1911 uglier than a Glock.

Looks like I'll be getting a new 9mm this weekend. Started shooting w 1911's, all .45's, amazing after all these years I have all kinds of 9mm's but not one 1911.

                          Will be my next purchase.

Mine made a ragged hole from 10 yards but the hole is about 1 inch to the right (the accuracy was off). I checked it with a bore-sighter and confirmed that the inaccuracy came from me.

I shot probably 300 rds through it. I experienced one failure to fire but it was due to a bad primer from a Magtech ammo.

I need more dry fire practice so it sits next to my nightstand weapon.

Southern California Gun here in San Diego was offering these for $899- very good price for anyone thinking about getting one of these. Salesperson told me they had a few.

                              Good Luck!
