    Sig 1911

Need some help here because I am very frustrated.

I bough a Sig 1911 back in 2010, stainless steel. Always had issues with failure to feed. The round would get stuck in the feeder ramp.

I took it to an armorer and he polished the ramp. It is a little better but I would still get FTF once in a while. I am not using hollow points. Mags are 2 factory Sig mags and two Wilson Combat 8 round mags.

Read on the internet (which must make it true =) that 7 round mags might be better. I went and ordered used 7 round mags (Kimber and Wilson Combat)

Any other suggestions? I don't have confidence in the gun anymore for home protection and thinking about just dumping it altogether (love 1911 platform though so I don't really want to go down that path)

    Thanks in advance!

Send it into Sig. My son in law had similar issues with his Sig. Had to send it in twice, but now it runs like a champ.

Maybe try replacing the recoil spring? It's been quite some time since you bought it. Or maybe I should ask how rounds have you put down pipe since 2010?

This is probably the best answer.

Limp wristing could be a cause. If you aren't holding the gun strong enough, your wrist or arm could be absorbing some of the energy used to cycle the gun. Have you tried to let someone else shoot it?

If you want to try one last ditch effort before sending it in, really give the frame and slide rails a good cleaning. A really good cleaning. The best cleaning you have ever done. Then really lube the rails up with oil. I am talking make the rails wet with oil. Rack the slide several time. Maybe a 100 times, maybe more. Really try to break in the slide to frame fit.

Finally, take it to the range and give it a shot.

Keep it for a range gun and get yourself a reliable platform. You can get it for $500

            Sig 1911

I have a Sig 522 that had the same problem. I know, completely different platform but the moral of the story is the same. I kept suffering through FTF for years. Finally said screw it and sent it back to Sig. Problem solved. Let the manufacturer deal with it. Don't try all kinds of things to make it work yourself, life is too short

I'd sell the SIG and move on.

Sig customer service (the time I used them) is great. You can prepay shipping thru them at a discount and send it in and they'll send it back to your house. No reason not to!

I hope you don't take this in a negative way

Your life is depending on the defensive weapon; therefore, the first criteria is that it must go bang all the time.

My Sig TTT is relible as it came out the box. The trigger needed a bit cleaning up so I polished up the ramp and beveled the barrel hood. It will feed semi-wadcutter hardcast lead reloads. It's not a tight gun but shoots accurate enough.

+1 to let Sig adjudicate the issue; you paid for the warranty, why not use it!

Sorry to hear about your issues OP, I have a 2014 1911-45-SS-R that has had zero issues fwiw (just adding a data point, not rubbing it in )

Sig 1911s have gradually gotten better over the years, all the ones I've shot in the last couple years have ran fine. Five years ago there was no way you'd get me to buy a Sig 1911. Today I see them as a solid choice and very well priced option, but I still dislike the slide cut.

If it were mine I'd off load it and replace it with a newer Sig or other 1911. I don't own any Sig 1911s but would not have a problem with buying a newer one.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

I do believe the older model sig 1911 had those kind of problems in the time yours was made. Send it back to sig to get that worked out.
