    Wilson Combat Protector

Anyone own one or have experience shooting one? I've been bitten by the 1911 bug and I am looking for a stainless to add to my collection. These things look mighty pretty!

    Got it...love it...

Here in Kalifornia, our choices are limited...they had one (Wilson)... so I talked to them. They were very helpful explaining the difference between this and the Classic...got the Protector because of the sights...

    Go for it...

I've recently checked one out at my LGS, it's a beautiful gun! If it has the features you like I'd say buy it. I have the CQB it's nearly the same gun, it's perfect, I love it!

Are you asking about stainless 1911s in general or in relation to other Wilsons? Premium 1911s? I have a stainless Wilson CQB Elite as well as a Springfield SS 9mm 1911. The Wilson is 3 times as expensive... and worth it, in my opinion. But the Springer is a fine weapon too. My Wilson has the cocobolo grips and it's damn fine looking haha. Almost too pretty to shoot. But I get over it...
FWIW, I had a Protector too, a while back but I sold it. Nothing wrong with it... just liked my Elite better. You should also just call Wilson Combat... they're very helpful.

I was looking for a premium stainless 1911 on roster. My search led me to the Wilson Combat Protector, the Springfield TRP, and the Dan Wesson PM7. Just from my light research the WC seemed to be the nicest of the 3 but I don't know anyone personally who owns one.

Yes, you are correct. Wilson's Protector is the prettiest and has the nicest finish of them all. It also costs more than twice as much as a TRP or a PM7.

PM7 has a BoMar type rear sight (read chuncky, not for carry) where the TRP and Protector have lower profile rear sights. The finish on a TRP is a mat sand blasted look as opposed to PM7 and Protector that have polished flats.
The TRP and Protector come with a Mag Well but the PM7 does not.
Protector and TRP have front strap checkering but PM7 has none. Also, TRP's checkering is way too aggressive for most shooters compared to Protector's checkering that is finer and easier on your skin.

They all work the same, are well made, and shoot straight if the shooter does his/her part. Get the Protector if within the budget. It is one of the finest and best looking (in my opinion)1911s put together these days.

This was what I was looking for. VERY HELPFUL STUFF! Magwell and Polished Finish were on my wishlist so I guess I better start saving my change cause that WC is going to be expensive.

Not mine, but there's a nice looking WC Protector in the Markeplace right now downnin San Diego. Also one in stock at Guns Direct in Burbank at the moment that I was checking out at last week -- it's a great looking pistol.
