springfield xds 9mm trigger question

So I have an xds 9mm. Without a magazine, the trigger seems to be set towards the rear. When i have used it or with dummies, it moves forward and lets me shoot. The trigger will reset (move to the front).

My question is when its not loaded is the trigger supposed to be towards the rear?

My springfield 3.3 .40 does not do this. I assume its missing some pieces (ease of use) since its a smaller firearm.

There's a Springfield recall for xds. Look it up.

Since the XDS was not on the list the number of folks in California who have direct experience with that model will be small. Get over to XDtalk.com and lookup the problem there. Sigh up on that forum and ask the question again.

Yes, it stays depressed after you pull the trigger loaded or unloaded (like glocks). It resets when the gun cycles. If the slide doesn't cycle then it will stay depressed to the rear.

Pull the trigger and hold it down. While the trigger is still depress, rack your slide. You should feel it reset and move outwards again (ready to shoot).

Has nothing to do with it being loaded or not. Is the trigger reset or not is the question.

- Unload the gun.
- Rack the slide. Trigger should be forward.
- Pull the trigger and let go, trigger will stay back until you rack the slide again.

Just like a Glock, just like a lot of striker pistols
