    RIA compact - b**bies on a nun

So I picked up the RIA compact a couple months back. The "tactical" model is now unsafe. Didn't used to be, but hey, thankfully our rulers are looking out for us. Anyways, I loved the little thing. And it shoots great. Just needed better sights.

So I took it to the smith and did the full on legit true Novak cut and real Novak sights.

Now this infernal rain has to stop so I can test them out. $300 sight job on a $400 gun !!!!!

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

I had one of these. It 100% would not run from the factory NIB. Rock Island took it back and replaced every part in the gun but the barrel, slide, and frame. I was super pissed but I have to admit when it came back it was both incredibly accurate and ran 100%. I still sold it but definitely regret it.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

That looks nice! So you have more than $700 in that gun now.

Let us know how she shoots. Range report please.

I had a RIA compact in 9mm awhile back. That gun was fitted well and it ran great. The finish was a little rough but other than that it was a very nice gun.

What sight cuts did it originally have?

So this isn't on the roster anymore? When I installed new sights on my Rock Islands, I just fitted the 10-8 rear sights to their dovetail.

I had it done at true zero in Monrovia. Really nice guy. I think the total was $271.

The RIA compact that's on the roster is the base model. The tactical is no longer on roster. Don't know why. It does come with the beaver tail but it comes with the simple GI sights. So there was no anything cut in the slide. Just the simple dovetail in back and staked front. Both were very low.

I had the actual for real Novak cut. Not Novak style but actual Novak Novak cut. And actual Novak Novak sights.

I got the wide notch rear. There's a standard, wide, and extra wide. I went middle ground. It's a compact. Isn't like I'm shooting bullseye at 25-50 yes. Also the panels are from ERGO. I really like them.

Cant wait to shoot them. The gun ran great before the sights. Can't imagine they'll affect reliability. In fact, I think it might be my favorite 1911. It's a blast to shoot. And oddly enough really accurate too.

Milling the slide for a new sight can be pricey.
