    Dented/deformed JHP - Effective Expansion?

I've been using Speer Gold Dots and Federal HST in 9 and 45. These bullets can dent or deform at the lip; sometimes due to poor packaging/shipping, sometimes for other reasons. Have any tests been done on deformed JHP? Do they still expand well?

shoot one through 4 plastic milk jugs filled with water and let us know.

or shoot the deformed ones for practice and use the good ones for SD/HD

You won't be able to tell the difference, because there won't be any.
