    Moving to California

    Hello,

I am currently in the process of moving to California, I bought a Glock for home defense during the process from my home state of Idaho, Ive been going back and forth. I'm currently working on registering the handgun. I just got my CA License today. The New Resident Report of Firearm Ownership ask when I got the gun and when I moved to CA. Do I need the date for when I got the gun to be BEFORE the date when I moved to California, or does it not matter? For the date for when I moved to California, is that when I became a resident of CA (when I got my CA Drivers License) or the date when I first physically stepped into CA? Ive been going back and forth for the past few months. What do you think? I just want to make sure I do this all legally. Thanks!

You have 60 days from the time you move in and become a resident of this fine gun grabbing state. Please see the link I have provided for more details and other facts about any of your questions and concerns. I have also attached the form you have to submit when you register your firearm.

Public Where do I find laws regarding the possession of firearms? I'm not sure whether I have a California record that would prevent me from owning/possessing a firearm. Is there a way to find out before I attempt to purchase one? What is the process for purchasing a firearm in California? How can I obtain a Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) license? Can I give a firearm to my adult child? Can he/she give it back to me later? Can I give a firearm to my spouse or registered domestic partner? Can he/she give it back to me later?

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Go back home and get a dozen Glock 43s. You can sell them here for like 100% markup.

Welcome to Commifornia. Land of the gun-grabbers and snowflakes.

You've solidified your residency with that CA License..

Prepare for the battle if you want to keep what is remaining of the little gun rights we have here.

LOL! You guys have zero knowledge of his reasons for moving to California, most of you live in California, yet you act like it's a big mistake for him to move here.

Welcome to California! Yeah, gun laws suck but there are many reasons why it's a great place to live.

You need to register all the firearms you brought to CA within 60 days from when you establish your CA residency. [PC 27560(a)(1)]

Use the date you received your CA DL, as the start of your 60 day window.

Legally, you can only bring firearms you intend to keep. [PC 17000(a)(7)]
^If you bring handguns that you intend to sell, then those handguns need to be on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale or be exempt from it (C&R, OTP, SAE, SSE2). [PC 32000(a)]

Also, now that you have a CA DL and CA considers you a CA resident, any firearm you purchase/acquire in another State must be transferred to you through a CA FFL dealer. [PC 27585(a)]
^Handguns will need to be on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale or be exempt from it (C&R, OTP, SAE, SSE2).
^Failure to utilize a CA FFL dealer equates to a misdemeanor per long gun and a felony per handgun. [PC 27590(a)&(c)(7)]
