    RIA Tactical Sights Option.

I for one am tired of the misinformation, or lack of information regarding what sights fit my RIA Tactical.

    Novak cut...
    Novak style cut...
True Novak cut for RIA with the small logo...

    Blah, blah, blah....

RIA can't even offer upgraded sight options from their website.

I don't have the best eyesight and I require more than blacked out sights.

    This is what I did...

For the rear, the RIA factory sight has dimples, just blacked out.
I filled the dimples with white paint, let it dry overnight, then followed up with Testor's Fluorescent Yellow. The white primer makes the yellow brighter.

For the front, I purchased this.

The sight is the same height as the original RIA but will not fit out of the box. It is too long (front to back). It needed to be fitted. 400 grit sandpaper to sand the bottom, and a dovetail file to shorten (one that is triangular and has only one cutting edge). I won't go into the finer points of fitting a sight. If you can watch a youtube video, you can do it too.

There you go. Bright sights for your RIA Tactical or Citadel 1911.

    Total cost: $25.

I've been down this road also with my RIA Tactical. They have NOVAK "STYLE" cut and are not pop and swap.

Here is a diagram of the RIA Cut

          Source:
I have a Rock Island Armory Tactical and I would like to have a adjustable rear sight installed. Does this pistol have a Novak cut? It looks like a standard dovetail to me but I could be wrong. I know the pistol has Novak sights but I wasnt sure if it was a Novak cut on the slide. I need to know...

An Email I sent to RIA (a while back)

Dawson Precision MIGHT have something for us, but I have never emailed them on it:

So yeah, I still have stock sights LOL. My preference is All black rear serrated sights with a Yellow/White Trijicon front, but I might just live with this.

Mental Note, the Citadel has an actual Novak cut for the same price point 1911. Though, I think this is only for RIA Tactical guns. I could be wrong.

FYI, RIA Tactical with small logo and Citadel 1911 have identical sights. Measured both myself.
