Ed Brown vs. Dan Wesson + CZ 97B

Hello,

I have some cash to burn. I have told myself that I won't be buying any more guns for a long time. I'm going to focus on ammo only this year.

I love 1911's and my local shop has a Ed Brown Executive Target and Dan Wesson Classic CBOB in stock. If I get the DW, then I'll also get a CZ 97b since I've always wanted one but never got around to it.

What would you do? I have other 1911's, but I fell in love with both the Brown and DW.

I'm honestly having a tough time deciding because I know that this is my last gun purchase for a looonnnggg time.

So I see most are voting DW and CZ. How about Just the DW and spend the rest of my money on ammo? If that's your choice, vote the Bacon Wrapped Bacon option since I can't edit the polls.

Update: I went a saw the DW CBOB and it was a very well built 1911. The fit and finish were perfect, and in my opinion, better fitted than the Nighthawks I've seen. The beavertail grip safety was perfectly blended with the frame, slide/frame were just as good as the Brown's. It was a close call between the Executive Target and the CBOB, however, I called Ed Brown yesterday to ask them a question and during my convo, the rep told me that they have a bunch of CA model Kobra Karry's in stock and ready to ship. So after all is said and done, I'm going to my LGS this morning to order the Kobra Carry. I've always loved that model. So, not that you care, but that's what I'm getting. Thanks for your feedback guys. BTW, the rep at Ed Brown was awesome. Super friendly.

2 is better than 1...you probably won't be able to tell the difference when shooting both anyways.

I'm a quality over quantity guy, so I would choose the Ed Brown Executive Target if i was in your situation. I've only ever owned one Ed Brown but it was a work of art and worked reliably every time; I really regret letting it go. Now I'm in not saying that the Dan Wesson is low quality, on the contrary, the build quality on their 1911's is superb for production guns. Good luck with your decision.

I have 2 EB's and 3 CZ's, also a CZ clone. If given the choice to keep either one of my EB's or all of my CZ's and the clone, I'd take the EB and not look back.

Ed Brown is an A hole. Dan Wessons are some of the best bang for the buck. The Valor stainless is My favorite pistol. Get one of those. You'll be thrilled.

What other 1911s do you have? If you have something like a Wilson, no point of downgrading. If you have a Baer, the upgrade will only be fit and finish if going with the Brown.

The 97B is a completely different beast. Nothing 1911 about it. The grip feels off, but if you get it Cajunized, it'll be just as if not more accurate then a good 1911. I shoot my CGW 97B more accurately than my Wilson and Baer, but I enjoy shooting my 1911s more due to the grip.

What is with people telling the OP to get a Valor? Where? I Haven't seen one for sale anywhere in California in who knows when? Can you post a link to one for sale? It's amazing how somebody will ask a question with specific guidelines and people chime in from left field.

Given the price of the new CBOB, which is insane if you ask me, I'd get a Brown.

If you do get the DW, hope you don't have the galling issue the other guy had:
