Anybody using Crimsontrace lasergrips on their 1911?

    Hello,

Do any of you guys have the crimson trace laser grips, new model or old model and what is the thickness of these grips?

I basically just want to know if these laser grips are thicker than standard 1911 grips or thinner or ??

I'm thinking of using some of they are thin. I like the feel of thin grips for my small hands.

    Any info appreciated.

I subscribed to this thread earlier today just to see what others may reply with. The research I have done shows conflicting reports and not actual comparisons.

Some say they are the same, others say they are significantly larger.
Can't find a single picture of a regular grip profile compared to crimson grip profile, for example, just laying on the table.

I have them on one of my 1911s. The G10 portions are slightly bigger than standard grips but not by much. The most noticeable difference is the rubber actuation button on the front strap. It makes the part of the grip under the middle finger feel significantly fatter.

Exactly what he said. The grips are SLIGHTLY thicker, the noticeable thing is the button on the front strap.

Still would be nice seeing one laying on a flat surface next to a standard grip panel.

Basically the camera looking from the bottom of both panels.

The G10 grips are the newer style though. The basic older models look thinner than the G10s.

I had a pair on my carry EMP but took them off because I had to squeeze the front grip switch so tightly that my hand was shaking.

You're showing a pic of the side activation model, but your link goes to the front activation model... which one are you interested in?

From the mounted CTCs in my sig pic, width measurements taken across the diamond flats, just inside of the grip screws.

                    Lower: 1.259"
                    Upper: 1.235"

Maybe it's because I've been using them for so long, but I don't even notice the activation pad. As for "standard" panels, I've handled more than a few sets of wood grips over the years, and it seemed like none of them were the same thickness.
I meant, it is my opinion that...

Hopefully this helps. The standard grips become slimmer towards the front and back straps while the CT grips maintain their thickness throughout. This makes the CT grips feel bigger (at least for the Master Series G10 model).

My Kimber 10mm. I noticed no difference in thickness on this 1911. My German 226 and 220 did have added bulk with the CT grips.

Yeah I didn't realize the pic posted was side activation.
On the pic above, the thickness looks similar. I was hoping I could find some that were thinner profile. Anyhow, thanks guys.

I had them on a s&w model 60 and found the switch was cumbersome.
