    Please educate me.

    Question:

Is there is ANY semi-automatic gun that can be safely shot with ammunition other than indicated on barrel/frame/etc.?

We all know that there are bunch of revolvers it can be done with:
anything chambered with for .357 can safely fire .38 specials.

I wondering if there is any semi with similar situation.

EDIT: BTW I am not talking about changing barrel/using .22 kits or anything. I am asking about stock semi-auto gun marked for caliber A that safe shoot with caliber B as it is shipped from factory.

The essence of Western civilization is the Magna Carta, not the Magna Mac. The fact that non-Westerners may bite into the later has no implications for their accepting the former.

EDIT 2020: To be fair that seems to apply to many Westerners also.

The HK USP45 fullsize can handle .45 Super, but not regularly.

I've heard of people shooting 40S&W out of a 10mm by "extractor headspacing".
