    Handgun registration question

I made the mistake of registering my handguns when I lived in California. Now that I am no longer a resident is there a way that I can have them remove my information?

What about selling it to my neighbor, can I then file a no longer in possesion form?

If you are no longer living in the PDRK and you have taken the weapons out of the state then I can't think of a reason to bother with trying to un-resgister them. Even though they may think they do, the PDRK has no jurisdiction outside it's borders.

Yes...But you still have to do a 4473 so the feds know who has the guns.

Tell that to the firearms dealers out of state the DOJ harasses. My goal is to have all my firearms off any books by the end of the year.

We do it all the time here. Check out KSL.com classifieds under firearms and have a look at all the goodness you can buy without paperwork.

A fool's errand, because any gun description, purchaser or serial number will NEVER be 'off the books' once it is in the system. The database entry might get flagged 'NLIP', but it will ALWAYS show you owned it.

The only way to have a firearm 'off books' is to ensure it is never traceable to you in the first place.

+1, and even if it was it is still possible to trace it to you, depending on the situation, through an ATF trace.
