New revolvers still make it onto the California list of approved guns. In general, how long after a new gun is available in the rest of the free world does a Californian have to wait to make the same purchase?

Sometimes simultaneously or very quickly...sometimes never. It all depends on the manufacturer and if they decide there is enough money to be made here despite the burdensome hassle.

Agreed. It's entirely up to the manufacturer. However, I've noticed over the years that it's rarely less than 9 months to a year. Kimber swore to me that their new K6S revolver would be on the roster before 2017...
