HST, Gold Dot, Ranger. Some bullet types don't expand as reliably at lower velocities. The Ranger brand has several bullet types, so be aware of which one you're buying. Some types of bonded bullets that are designed to be "barrier blind" do not expand as reliably as others at lower velocities. i.e .45 ACP 230 grain bullets at <900 fps.
If a gun doesn't feed any HP ammo reliably, the gun is the problem, not the ammo. The nonsense about using FMJ for "reliability" is from decades ago (at least) and is irrelevant in regards to modern firearms. A Glock will be fine with virtually all modern ammo.
If grandpa's 1911 won't feed modern HP ammo and that's the only gun you have, by all means, use FMJ.
