If that dimple at what looks like about 11 o'clock is the 1st strike, I'd say yes. Timing issue on a Colt, and one that off, shouldn't be too hard to confirm. Close the cylinder, apply a little drag with your thumb and cock the hammer slowly. You can do the same testing by pulling the trigger DA style, slowly. Keep in mind that regardless of which way you check stop pressing/cocking once the hammer starts to fall.
It sounds as though the hand is worn. How old is the gun, and has anyone fiddled with it?
A Colt hand is a bit of a challenge to properly fit. Sometimes peening the 2nd stage of the hand can give it enough lift to work. But again, that hit is quite a ways off.GOA Member & SAF Life Member -
Its obviously junk. I'll take it off your hands. $50 for your troubles?

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

11 o'clock dimple is the FP strike.
Bought from my brother in-law years ago. Just started hand loading for it, shot groups single action all day. Last 12 rounds were DA and this problem occurred.
If anyone can recommend a smith it would be much appreciated. Plus there is always sending it off to colt for the work.
Thanks gents.Comment

If you tell us your ballpark location, we might be able to recommend a local smith to avoid 2 overnight shipping charges and 2 insurance chargesRule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Thumbing back the hammer the way most do it will give the cylinder a bit of inertia causing it to lock up properly before the trigger is pulled. Doing DA doesn't give the same benefit.11 o'clock dimple is the FP strike.

I'm not one who believes it's rocket science to fit an older style Colt revolver hand. I've done a few but they are a challenge - never toss the old one until the new one's fitted. Colt internals are highly interdependent, in that changing one part may cause a problem with another - you may find the new hand turns the cylinder before the cylinder bolt clears the cylinder bolt cuts and you feel hesitation. Just be sure that whomever works on it knows and regularly does the old Colts, I know some experienced Colt gunsmiths have been mentioned here before and someone will mention again.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment
