I saw a Rossi revolver snub nose Model M685 in blue finish at a local pawn shop for $239 today. I was thinking trying to talk down the price to $200-215. Anybody have feed back and experience with Rossi snubby revolvers?

Rossi Revolvers

I would pass on the Rossi. Taurus owns the brand and manufacture plant for Rossi. From personal experience I have owned and sold three Taurus / Rossi revolvers, each one had problems. Broken firing pin on the snub nose with a low round count, cylinder locking up during firing with a .357 snub nose,
and light primer strikes with another, older .357.
My experince was enough to never consider a Taurus / Rossi revolver again. I am sure someone else will post soon that has one or two that has never given them problems.Comment

Mine was a newer one purchased in 2009. 357 mag. Fired 120 rds of 38 special with no issues. Sold it for more Glocks.sigpic

Considering I have waited 7 months (so far) for a replacement part, Rossi is off my list of guns to buy.
In my case, CS does not stand for Customer Service.
Edit: Not for a snubby.Last edited by Garv; 02-06-2017, 6:06 PM.Originally posted by Kestryll:

Taurus ran into a rough patch with QC a while ago and there was a time when it would have been silly to buy one since they were breaking down. I'm not sure how they're doing now, but when they sort out the QC problems there will be a period when it is a good value (before they raise prices).
Personally, I would pass on a new one. At around $200, you're into Hi-Point price range so that might change your calculation.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

I don't have any experience with Rossi myself but I THINK their current warranty is only for one year,
after that you're paying for anything that goes wrong with it.
That said, it's hard to turn down a working $200 firearm.
I think a Smith & Wesson version of the same revolver is going to be at Least another hundred dollars for one in fair to ok condition (but working) and on average here in California more than that.Comment

How old is the Rossi? If it says "Interarms" on it, Taurus (current owner of Rossi) does not support it parts-wise, and will not honor their lifetime warranty. I had an older Rossi 22lr revolver that was imported by Interarms, and this is what Taurus CS told me. By the way, regarding the Taurus lifetime warranty.....I had a model 94 that needed repair. Had I not gotten the FFL I purchased it from (Bass Pro - yeah, I know, never again) to ship it back on their dime, I would have been stuck with the shipping as Taurus does not pay for that, per their CS. That can turn an inexpensive gun into not so much of a bargain pretty quickly."Bye Felicia!" - Said by me, as I looked at Kalfornia in my rearview for the last time, 9/22/17.

Hard to say
They are basic, functional revolvers that can be good or bad. There is a revolver checkout procedure by a dude named Jim March that ought to be of some help. There is a sticky on it somewhere on this forum.
Current ones by Taurus seem to have real QC issues.Comment
