    Question for the CZ guys....

I'm 9mm 1911 shooter and I've never owned or shot a CZ. I've been looking at a few CZ's and need some feedback from the CZ community. I modify my 1911's with thin grips, short triggers and low safeties.

Is the Tactical Sport tunable with those kinds of mods? I know that CGW has short flat triggers that can be installed. I think the TS comes with? Can thin grips be installed and does in make the grips better for someone with small to med hands? I know that it's a double stack and that impacts the grip size.

    Thanks,

Yes. You can find cz thin grips. They have Plenty of upgrades between czc and cgw

I'm not quite sure what a low safety is but the answer to all your other questions is yes. the aluminum thin grips are what you're looking for. I only know of the aluminum trigger but there are probably more options I am not aware of. ts is a great gun you will most likely love it

TS is great out of the box. It'll take some work but you can do a grip reduction on it as well for smaller hands if you're set on the TS frame (I had the same issue).

The other option is getting a CZ75 SA which will give you a configuration similar to your 1911 9mm since it's a smaller frame than the TS (but at the expense of capacity).

Shoot the TS the way it is and I'm sure you'll think twice about thin grips.

I have small hands, and the TS fits me perfectly. The wider grip allows me to naturally rest the pad of my finger on the trigger.

Here is a comparison pic for your question about low safetys. You will likely need to hold a CZ with one or the other to get a base line for your hand, but the extended safety levers are lower.

Having swapped my 97B's grips from the original to the aluminum ones, I can tell you that they are much thinner. If you find that the standard CZ grips on other pistols are too thick, you'll find that swapping to the thinner grips will definitely make it comfortable for your hand.

If you want to try some CZs, my club is full of them. I'm sure we can get you some range time with one. I'm in Yuba City, so likely not too far from you. PM me if you want.

I shot a Tactical Sport at the range yesterday. It was damned fine. I don't think it gets much better unless you get something really custom.

Kappy, My club is full of them too. I've dry fired a few and I assume that a TS will be similar to my comp 9mm 1911s. Do you shoot out at Gridley?

I am a die hard 1911 and Glock Chap for many years till one day I shot a CZ-85 Combat and from then on sold all my 1911 and Glock, replaced all with CZ pistol and never regret it. In my 2 cent opinion it's the most ergonomic pointing pistol bar none.

I tried Gridley once. Really great people. Supportive, helpful, encouraging... everything you want in a group of shooters. I never made it back out, but want to some day.

I too am a 1911 guy and I also love thin grips. I converted mine over to thin grips and I love it. Thin bushings are a must in that scenario.

On a TaC sport you are looking at the same size grip as a 2011. I almost went that same way until I held it. No way. You can buy thin grips but the frame is still substantially wider than a 1911 frame. Think G21 width.

I ended up with a SP01 tactical. I prefer the decocker but the safety version is still perfectly fine. The width of grip is substantially smaller and more manageable and you can thin the grips even more with aftermarket grips.

Cgw does an email conversion of a 97b if you want an almost exact replica of a 1911 in Cz form. In my opinion I would just get a 1911 at that point but that's just me.

Hope that helps. I recommend getting into a LGS and trying hem all in the hand. That should substantially help you make a decision.

It depends on the hands, I had to make a grip reduction, get thin grips and a small hand trigger on mine to fit my Trump hands . Before and after below:
