...they tell you to bring a car registration or utility bill. ive beeen told that if you bring a lease agreement then that will also work as a utility bill. anyone have any experience with this?

Technically, only a utility bill will work. A Best Buy bill wouldn't work.

Talk to the manager of the department, not the kid behind the counter.

Write down the name of the person you talk to and bring it with you in case there is any question. Works better than "Well, I spoke with someone..."

I had a utility bill with me, but the shop where I bought a month ago asked for my car registration. I suggest bringing several documents that can prove your residency.

I was told ccw, utility bill or car registration to prove residency. I offered up my Sentri pass - it has a federal background check behind it - no good. So I went out and got the registration from the truck. Lunatic fringe we are living in here...

i went to office depot and got some lease agreement papers........ i cant believe they would let you guy a gun with these BS papers and bills dont matter. im not gunna get into it. anyways now i have a cellphone bill so i dont need to worry anymore
