    Patients when gun hunting

    Since early Dec I've been looking at buying my 1st 1911. I've been having my eye on a specific type. Springfield, Mil spec, parkerized, with the bump in the spring housing, stock stock stock. I love the basic look of GI guns.

    Not everyone had it as they were waiting for the next shipment from Springfield and when I did find it they were asking for 20-40 more than msrp (might have been the holster and mag holder kit) Also I have a close friend at Turners that would get me already an extra 5% off, but they didn't have it on stock...

    Long story medium, after having a dream about the damn gun, I went to my local gun range just to browse knowing the didn't have it in Stock, but asked any ways since it was after shot show. Asked the guy at the gun counter and he calls out to another at the range counter if they had it. His words, "No, but I do. Never shot"

    I asked if he was selling it and his reply was, "yeah but this girl been saying she wants it" I reached until my back pocket and threw down $700 cash. He smiled and said "let me go get it." ended up buying it for $685 out the door and he was so cool he handed my a box of 45 and said "1st 50 are on me"

    I walked out happy and can't wait to pick it up this Saturday. Giving him a pair of tickets to a ducks game as a thank you too!

        Awesome... Sometimes you get lucky. It never hurts to ask, same thing happened to me when i was looking for a good 1903a1. I had been looking for 6 months and i just happened to ask the right gunshop owner.

        She looks great, im a big fan of plain jane 1911's. Thats the reason i still dont have one in 9mm. None on the roster.

          I don't get where any patients figured into the buy...

            @protect
            I could have bought the gun back in December for 719, plus taxes & fees would have been slightly under 800, in fact had a deal lined up with Ron from Gun wharehouse in riverside and the price was $787 out the door. $127 in savings plus a box of ammo.

                    Good buy congrats, but were you really stalling on your dream gun for $20-40 ? Sometimes you have to decide if you want to wait years to save 20-40 or get it now and enjoy it starting now. In your case, it sounds like it was not years so you did good, if it was a $100 or more, ok I would have waited also.

                      Congrats OP. When I decided to add a 1911 to the stable, I picked the same gun. Enjoy.

                        Patience pays off eventually.

                        I bought a brand new/unfired Springfield TRP for $1,000 on Calguns market place. And, I am buying a RIA 1911 for $400 tomorrow. May not be a lot of savings, but it works for me.

                              Nice indeed.

                              In CA you snooze and you lose. I was tossed between a Colt Government in blue or stainless. They felled off the roster so I ended up with a Commander.
